upon approach, i realized that my car had been completely bombed by some kind of miserable bird. there was poop everywhere! kind of embarrassing...

i need a fill up anyway, and since i was headed to disney to do some paperwork for my new position i decided to stop at the hess station on property. they have one of those drive through car washes, and i chose the premium option at the pump, thinking that i didn't mind splurging an extra $2 for all the colorful foam that sprays out. aftering filling up, my receipt didn't print so i had to wait in a long line inside for a copy. after obtaining my carwash code i preceeded to the carwash....

i drove inside. it was a little bit scary and ghetto. i put my car in neutral like it asked. i sat. i listened to music. i delete old voicemails. and then i realize that the carwash has stopped. mid wash. there is a long hose dangling in front of me that i can only assume came loose at some point, and there was that dang pink, blue, and yellow foam dripping on the ground. my car is covered in suds. i sit for about 5 mintues thinking maybe there was a powersurge or something and someone will come out and help. i look at my receipt thinking that maybe there is a phone number for the hess station so i can call someone to help me, but alas, there is not. i decided to call my brother lane because i knew he was on summer break and probably not really doing anything, so he could google this hess station and give me their phone number, but alas i wasn't getting any reception in the carwash. after about 10 minutes i start getting really nervous. i don't want to get out of my car lest some mechanical part kills or injures me, and i don't want to drive out lest i break something. i weigh those 2 options carefully and decide that breakage is better than death, so i drive straight out, trying unsuccessfully to dodge the hanging hose. but this hose, my friends, is not just a regular hose. this hose has a large hook on the end that proceeds to scratch my car from hood to trunk. one big, long, ugly scratch. and a bent windshield wiper

i run inside to get a manager, who i find out is out of town until next week, but they take lots of pictures of my car and offer me a free car wash for next time. yeah right! i'm never going in that terrible car wash again!!

the icing on the cake--i pulled up to a pump to use a squeegee to get the soap residue off my windshield and there are NO squeegees in the whole place. NONE.

i gave an exasperated phone call to patrick, who's hilarity made me laugh and called me down. then i called progressive, who are AWESOME, and they made me feel tons better. i have sweet relief just to know that i will not be stuck in that carwash forever.

carrot top

i don't remember where i got this idea, but somewhere along the line i started believing that carrot top went to rochester college.

i think it started after part of the first australia mission team saw him on a plane. i have this memory of someone saying that carrot top knows dean cain. he knows her because he went to rochester college.

i've told people this. they've been amazed that he went to such an unknown school. i felt happy to have inside knowledge.

i was talking to amy stewart when she was in orlando last week. she said something about that time zak saw carrot top on the plane. i said, "remember how he went to rochester college?!" like it was the most crazy and well-known fact ever. she said, "he did?" and then i paused....did he? i feel like this has been a truth as long as i can remember, passed from person to person, but i couldn't remember what respectable source i had gotten this information from.

i just wikipediaed carrot top. he went to college in florida. he probably doesn't even know where rochester college is.

how in the world could i have believed such a load of crap for so long?! someone please shed some insight--what in the world?!

dream squad

i have a dream squad interview on thursday!

todd has one on tuesday!

i thought it was the kind of thing where everyone that applied got an interview, but it seems that isn't true, so now i'm a little more pumped about it

Monday, January 28, 2008

apparently i have poor mental health...

i took a medical survery at work to get a reduction to my payroll contributions, and at the end they sent me a health evaluation. i am apparently depressed, stressed, and anxious. i scored 20 points lower than most of my peers.

i find this strange. i work at disney world--i'm usually perky, and i have a positive attitude.

the survey question read: have you felt sad at all in the past 2 weeks?
i answered---yes, of course. heath ledger died. i felt sad.

the survey question read: have you felt anxious or stressed in the past 2 weeks?
i answered---yes, of course. i was running late for work one day--got a little stressed about that.

that means i have poor mental health.

honestly, i think that if you haven't felt any amount of saddness or stress in the past 2 weeks, you might have some apathy issues. i'm pretty glad that i'm a feeling person, even if i can be high strung sometimes.

i called my mom and brother because mental health problems are genetic

orlando

we've been in orlando for nearly a week now. todd and i did our traditions (orientations) class with disney together on thursday, and then started our separate training. i've been learning all about resort computer systems and procedures...all very exciting it's actually not too bad because disney has the magic to make everything, even the really boring things, at least a little bit fun. on my time off i've mostly been hanging out in the parks. the food and wine festival is happening in epcot and that's a good way to spend a few hours and dollars.

our apartment is cute and clean, but very very empty. when my mom gets here we'll hopefully get a chance to go get some furniture. we have the truly important things, like a crock pot and coffee pot, towels and an air mattress.

our computer has been doing this weird thing where it only crashes in our apartment. we turn it on in the apartment and it goes into a continual restart loop. we take it to an internet cafe and it works beautifully. the technical support line couldn't figure it out, and neither could the best efforts of my brother and our computer saavy australian friends. if you have any ideas about why it's doing that, shout them at me! please!

anyway, things are good. it's fun to be here, and i also miss home. there must be some deep, spiritual reason behind the fact that i never feel at home. i used to think it was just because i have issues, but i now realize that it probably is good that i always feel called to best case scenerio--i was created for perfection, so anything less is supposed to feel uncomfortable. heaven will be good

we're in florida!!

hey! here's an update on the last week!

we left michigan for florida last saturday. we drove until we were tired, which was chattanooga, stayed at the holiday inn there, and then drove the rest of the way to aunt shelly's on sunday, getting here around 8pm.

after a couple days of chillaxin', we headed over to orlando for the walt disney world job fair. after waiting in many many long lines a lady named jennifer called todd and i in to here office where we interviewed. she said we were the best interview she had all day, and set up an immediate job interview for todd in epcot. we head over there and i waited in the cast parking lot while todd interviewd at innoventions, and when he was done he and the manager came out to get me and let us wander around in epcot where i enjoyed a delicious frozen margarita from mexico. when we got back to aunt shelly's there was a message on the answering machine from jennifer and when todd called her back she offered him the a job as an innoventions presenter! yea!

the next day (thursday) i went to an audition to be a character performer. there were about 50 of us there and the taught us a dance. in groups of four we had to perform the dance several times in front of the directors. after everyone was done they told us we would be put into 3 groups: the really great dancers, the alright dancers with great enthusiam, and the people that would have to work elsewhere in the park. i was in the middle group, so they ran through some improv exercises with us and then had us perform an improv routine in front of the directors. then we all waited in the lobby for our fate....
they pulled us up in groups: first a group of really tall men, who i am assuming they needed for some of the tall characters. next, a group of really shy girls who i'm assuming they sent home. then they called me and a really tall black man and told us that we had passed the audition (yea!!!) that we would be put into the character pool, and when one opened they would give us a call!!!
meanwhile, i have an interview on monday to work as conceirge at the grand floridian, and i can do that until i get a call from the performing department.

this week todd and i are apartment hunting and next weekend we'll start working.

today aunt shelly had a fish fry to celebrate my birthday which is next tuesday, and she got me a cell phone! i'll get that number to all of you soon

Tuesday, September 25, 2007

i was just thinking about how we taught everyone at camp to play zombie tag and one kid told me that was the first time he laughed in a long time.

laughter is a noble goal. i've been able to spend lots of time with my mama. todd, patrick, lane, kaitlin and i went to the beechwood hills youth great last weekend and it was so fun to have all the kids together! i've been showing todd the super cool west michigan sights like silver lake and the mac woods dune rides, duck lake channel, and today we're going to hoffmaster state park.

this weekend we're going to fall fest at rochester college, so hopefully i'll see some friends while i'm there

michigan is the best! of the fifty nifty united states...

yesterday we arrived in michigan! it felt so good to cross the indiana border into the homeland--michigan is so pretty in the summer.

todd went to a men's retreat at beechwood hills for the weekend, so cassie came over and we hung out and giggled and spent time with mama. besides the million bugbites i have from mini-golfing by the mississippi river, i'm very relaxed and happy.

i'm going to go eat some low calorie french toast now--who knew that was possible?

hecho en mexico

today we went over the border to mexico!! we bought some fun things, like a dress and some hot sauce and vanilla, and todd even found "the wishmaster" in spanish, which is so so funny!

we've been eating all the mexican food the family has been throwing at us and i am full all of the time, but it's so good. todd's family down here in texas is really cute and lovely and i'm having a great time getting to know them. i feel like i know todd a little better from being here.

tomorrow we are driving to galveston, and the next day we're driving to oklahoma, and then we'll be in the quad cities for a week so we can take a break from driving! yea!

i'm getting excited to see my mama
